Job Summary:

The Patient Care Supervisor is a member of the patient care team within the facility. Demonstrates responsibility for maintaining quality care for his/her shift, technical supervisor of nursing personnel and interpreting policies and procedures of the hospital nursing service. Renders nursing care and related assistance to the patients with patient centered care being a primary responsibility. Knowledge in management techniques and supports the philosophy and objectives of WCH. Must be clinically competent and is accountable to the Director of Nursing Service at WCH. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the hospital’s policies and procedures. May also provide patient care in the Emergency Room and Endoscopy as needed.

Performance Expectations:

• Properly uses and operates equipment assigned including but not limited to: telemetry monitors, wound vac, IV infusion pumps, accu check, and defibrillator.
• Completes a thorough physical assessment of patients.
• Skilled in the use of central line care, IV insertion/care and blood transfusions.
• Consistently respects and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Ensure appropriate communication and interaction with patient/families and visitors.
• Supervises nursing personnel and is a team manager for the facility during his/her shift.
• Is a Leader with vision and manages employees effectively.
• Must tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or the patient.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Embraces and practices “We Care” philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker and non-employee care.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.

Work Experience:

A minimum of three years’ experience Preferred.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

• Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
