Job Description
Housing Connector is seeking a contractor to support a defined financial assistance application project.
The primary focus of this engagement is to review and move assigned financial assistance applications from intake through resolution, helping Housing Connector maintain timely application processing and accurate case documentation during a period of increased application volume.
This is a temporary contract engagement with an anticipated project duration of 3-4 months. The scope and duration of the engagement will be defined in the contractor agreement and may be adjusted by mutual agreement based on project needs.
Project ScopeThe contractor will be responsible for managing assigned financial assistance applications through the established review and resolution process, including:
- Review applications for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with established program eligibility criteria.
- Evaluate information including Area Median Income (AMI), balance due, household income, financial circumstances, and required documentation.
- Conduct applicant screening conversations to gather information needed to complete the application review.
- Request and review supporting documentation, such as income verification, bank statements, property ledgers, and offer letters.
- Apply established program guidelines and decision frameworks to determine or recommend appropriate application outcomes.
- Communicate with applicants and property partners regarding missing information, application status, decisions, and next steps.
- Coordinate approved financial assistance requests, including obtaining property ledgers and preparing Financial Assistance Requests for payment processing.
- Provide appropriate community resources when an applicant does not qualify for assistance.
- Maintain complete and accurate application records, including documentation of communications, decisions, and supporting information in Salesforce.
- Resolve application-related questions and issues necessary to move assigned cases toward completion.
- Identify recurring application issues or process gaps that could improve the efficiency or clarity of the application review process.
Successful completion of the engagement will include:
- Assigned applications reviewed and advanced toward resolution in accordance with established project timelines.
- Eligibility criteria and program guidelines applied accurately and consistently.
- Complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation maintained for each application.
- Applicants and property partners kept informed of application status and required next steps.
- Approved financial assistance requests prepared accurately for payment processing.
- Application issues requiring additional review appropriately identified and escalated.
- Recurring workflow or documentation issues surfaced to Housing Connector as they are identified.
What You’ll Need for This Project
- Experience in application review, case management, customer support, housing services, financial assistance programs, or similar work.
- Ability to review information against established criteria, identify missing or inconsistent information, and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong communication skills and comfort navigating sensitive financial conversations.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and documentation practices.
- Experience working in a CRM or case management system. Salesforce experience is helpful but not required.
Experience with financial assistance, public benefits, affordable housing, homelessness services, or similar programs is helpful but not required.

- Estimated project commitment: up to 40 hours/week
- Compensation: $40/hour
