Job Description
Stones River Electric is seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Service Estimator to analyze, price, and bid commercial electrical maintenance projects, service updates, and tenant improvements. This role requires a strong background in the field to accurately diagnose existing building conditions, translate site realities into accurate cost structures, and deliver competitive customer proposals.
Key Responsibilities· Analyze Scope: Conduct thorough site walk-throughs and review existing, often messy building layouts, panel schedules, and one-line diagrams to define the service scope.
· Calculate Costs: Develop accurate, comprehensive pricing breakdowns for materials, specialized equipment, labor hours, and permits, especially when complete drawings are unavailable.
· Create Proposals: Seamlessly transpose field evaluations and rough site sketches into structured, professional customer proposals.
· Ensure Code Compliance: Apply deep working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) to price out full, code-compliant solutions, rather than just pricing surface-level sketches.
· Vendor Coordination: Source and compare material and equipment quotes from local distributors and specialized subcontractors to optimize job profitability.
Job Requirements· 3–7+ years of commercial electrical experience. Practical field experience as a Journeyman Wireman (JW) or Foreman is strongly preferred over office-only estimating experience.
· Proven ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, complex panel schedules, and navigate existing, messy commercial infrastructure.
· Demonstrated ability to confidently estimate and build accurate pricing models from field concepts without a full or formal architectural drawing set.
· Strong, practical knowledge of the NEC to guarantee code-required elements are explicitly captured and priced in every quote.
· Ability to efficiently transpose raw field data, notes, and observations into highly organized, professional client proposals.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with dedicated estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or similar platforms is considered a strong plus but is not strictly required for service work.
· Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain reliable transportation to travel directly to project and customer sites.
· An active Journeyman or Master Electrician license is highly preferred.
