Mental Performance Coach in Fort Wayne, Indiana at Parkview Health

The Mental Performance Coach is part of the integrated Parkview Sports Medicine team working closely with the performance division and athletic trainers. Performs activities related to the mental performance of student athletes in accordance with the overall organizational goals of promoting Parkview Health. Provides individual and group/team mental performance counseling and education to enhance the performance of competitive and recreational athletes. Primary responsibilities include counseling individuals and groups on common performance challenges and well being; translating the latest scientific evidence into practical mental performance recommendations; tracking and documenting outcomes of mental performance services, serving as a mental performance resource for coaches, student athletes, and parents; providing mental performance education for health/wellness programs, athletic teams, and community groups; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in sports psychology or related area, granted from a US regionally accredited college or university. Master’s Degree in sports psychology or equivalent certifications is preferred.

iPEC Membership preferred upon hire. MGCP (Mental Game Coaching Professional Certification) or MPM (Mental Performance Mastery Certification) Certification required within 2 years of hire. Must have current CPR certification.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mental performance coaching, preferably with emphasis on high school and college athletes preferred.

Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must be available to work weekends, holidays and conduct evening public speaking programs. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Ability to perform the physical demands of frequent standing, walking, stooping and bending. Must understand athletic schedules, urgency of athletic needs, and ability to understand the unique needs of athletes and athletic programs.
