The I.T. Analyst Intern provides entry-level technical support to assist with the day-to-day operations of the hospital's Technology department. This position is designed to provide students with practical experience in a professional healthcare technology environment while supporting Technology staff and hospital users.
Under the direction and supervision of Technology staff, the I.T. Analyst Intern assists with the installation, configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and inventory of computers, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, and other technology equipment. The position responds to assigned help desk requests, performs basic troubleshooting, documents work performed, and escalates issues to the appropriate Information Technology staff member when additional expertise or system access is required.
The I.T. Analyst Intern assists hospital users with basic questions related to approved hardware, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 applications, and other standard hospital technology. The position may also assist with workstation deployments, equipment moves, cable installation and organization, technology inventory, equipment preparation, documentation, preventative maintenance, and Information Technology projects or enhancements as directed by department management.
Work will be performed within the individual's demonstrated competency, assigned system access, and level of training. The Part-Time Student Technology Analyst is expected to follow established Information Technology procedures, cybersecurity standards, confidentiality requirements, HIPAA requirements, and hospital policies at all times.
This position is intended to provide progressive exposure to healthcare Information Technology operations. Responsibilities may increase as the student demonstrates technical competency, reliability, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently within established guidelines.
The position is not routinely responsible for participation in the Technology on-call rotation. Occasional evening, weekend, or after-hours work may be offered or scheduled when needed for Technology projects, upgrades, deployments, or other department activities.
Facilitates Technology projects and enhancements as directed by department management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Professional & Technical Skills
-
Basic knowledge of or demonstrated interest in personal computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, networking, and information technology.
Ability to learn the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of computers, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, and associated technology.
Basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 applications is preferred.
Ability to follow technical instructions, established procedures, and documentation.
Ability to appropriately recognize when an issue requires escalation to a Technology Analyst or other Information Technology staff member.
Good organizational, problem-solving, documentation, and time-management skills.
Demonstrated interest in learning Information Technology concepts including hardware, software, networking, cybersecurity, healthcare technology, and technical support.

Education

Must be actively enrolled in an educational program and maintaining satisfactory academic standing.
Enrollment in a high school technical program, vocational or career-technical program, college, university, or other accredited educational program is acceptable.
Coursework or educational emphasis in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Networking, Computer Technology, Information Systems, or a related technical field is preferred but not required.
Previous professional Information Technology experience is not required.

Information Technology certifications are not required for employment in this position.
CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or other relevant Information Technology coursework or certifications are preferred and may be encouraged as part of the student's professional development.

Must demonstrate a professional, dependable, and customer-service-oriented approach when interacting with hospital staff, providers, patients, vendors, and Information Technology personnel.
Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to maintain accurate records and appropriately document assigned work, equipment, and help desk activity.
Must maintain the confidentiality and security of hospital, employee, provider, and patient information and comply with all applicable privacy, HIPAA, cybersecurity, and Information Technology security requirements.
Must follow established Information Technology procedures and may only access systems, applications, equipment, network resources, and information necessary for assigned responsibilities.
Must be willing to learn and accept coaching, supervision, and feedback from Information Technology staff.
Must demonstrate reliability, good judgment, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
May assist with transporting, installing, moving, or replacing computer equipment and related technology throughout MHP facilities.
May assist with basic network cabling, cable management, workstation connectivity, and related infrastructure tasks under the direction of qualified Information Technology staff.
May be asked to use a personal automobile for MHP business between MHP sites and will be eligible for mileage reimbursement during the normal course of duties if applicable safety criteria are met.
Must adhere to safety guidelines as outlined in SPP: HR-44.
Remote work may be approved when appropriate for assigned responsibilities and when authorized by department management. Any approved remote work must comply with policy guidelines outlined in SPP: HR-63.
