HR Coordinator

Developmental Enterprises Corporation (DEC)
Location: Norristown, PA

About the Role

Developmental Enterprises Corporation (DEC) is seeking an organized, responsive, and people-focused HR Coordinator to join our Human Resources team.

This is a hands-on HR role supporting employees and leaders across the organization. The HR Coordinator will play an important role in keeping our day-to-day HR operations running smoothly—from recruiting and onboarding new employees to benefits administration, timekeeping, employee support, workers’ compensation, and HR data management.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys variety, works well in a fast-paced environment, pays attention to details, and understands that great HR is about both people and process.

What You’ll Do

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and hiring documentation.
  • Coordinate pre-employment screenings, including background checks, drug screenings, and reference checks.
  • Coordinate new-hire paperwork and onboarding activities.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth and timely hiring process.
  • Support recruitment events, job fairs, and community outreach initiatives.

HR Operations & Employee Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee HR questions and requests.
  • Provide employees and supervisors with information regarding HR processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Complete HR data entry and maintain confidential personnel files.
  • Assist with employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Support HR projects and organizational initiatives as assigned by the HR Director.

Timekeeping & Attendance

  • Administer the organization’s timekeeping/timeclock processes.
  • Review employee time and attendance records for accuracy.
  • Follow up with supervisors regarding missing punches, discrepancies, and attendance-related issues.
  • Coordinate HR-related payroll and employee data changes in a timely manner.

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Support day-to-day benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, open enrollment, and employee questions.
  • Assist with leave administration and related documentation.
  • Support FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and other leave-related processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential benefits and leave records.

Workers’ Compensation & Unemployment

  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claim administration, documentation, follow-up, and recordkeeping.
  • Assist with return-to-work coordination.
  • Support unemployment claim responses by gathering documentation and preparing information for submission.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the HR Director.

HR Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready personnel records.
  • Assist with HR audits, compliance tracking, and reporting.
  • Support workforce reporting, recruitment metrics, and other HR data requests.
  • Help ensure HR processes are completed accurately, consistently, and in accordance with organizational policies and applicable requirements.

Employee Engagement & Team Support

  • Assist in coordinating employee engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Support Safety Committee coordination and related administrative activities.
  • Collaborate with other members of the HR team on orientation, training, compliance, and employee initiatives.
  • Provide responsive administrative support to the HR department.
What We’re Looking For
  • At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources, recruiting, HR coordination, or a related administrative HR role.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong follow-through and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working with HRIS systems, timekeeping systems, Microsoft Office, applicant tracking systems, and other HR technology.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to employees, supervisors, and candidates.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated to the HR Director.
  • Experience in nonprofit, human services, healthcare, or an IDD environment is a plus.
  • HR certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or aPHR is a plus.
