Position Overview:

The Inpatient Dialysis Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients with kidney failure who require dialysis treatment during hospitalization. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective dialysis treatment in an inpatient setting.

Position Highlights:

  • Starting Rate: $34.88 + per hour (commensurate with experience)
  • Shift Differentials: $2.50 - $5.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

•Deliver hemodialysis treatments to inpatients in accordance with prescribed care plans.

•Assess patients pre- and post-treatment, including monitoring vital signs, fluid status, access sites, and overall condition.

•Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects or complications during dialysis sessions.

• Operate and troubleshoot dialysis equipment safely and effectively.

•Collaborate with nephrologists, physicians, transitional care, and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care.

•Work with Hemodialysis Technicians and provide supervision.

•Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of treatments, assessments, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.

•Educate patients and families on dialysis treatment, dietary restrictions, fluid management, and medication adherence.

•Follow hospital infection control procedures and maintain a safe, clean environment.

•Respond to emergencies and assist in stabilizing critically ill patients undergoing dialysis.

•Other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

Qualifications:

•Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) required.

•Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.

•Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be completed within 6 months of hire.

•Experience: Minimum 2 years of dialysis experience preferred; inpatient or acute care experience strongly desired.

•Skills: Strong critical thinking, communication, and time management skills. Must be comfortable working independently and in a fast-paced environment.
