This role sits at the intersection of advanced Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems engineering, analytical studies, and defense technology strategy support. You will serve as a senior technical advisor supporting government stakeholders on GPS/GNSS and multi-constellation navigation systems, helping evaluate performance, modernization pathways, and emerging alternatives. The position combines deep engineering expertise with strategic analysis, including trade studies, architecture assessments, and roadmap development for next-generation capabilities. You will also contribute to cybersecurity-aware engineering practices and support integration of secure, resilient navigation solutions. Operating in a highly technical and mission-critical environment, your insights will directly inform acquisition, modernization, and operational decisions. This is a remote role with occasional travel, offering significant influence on national-level PNT capabilities.
In this role, you will provide senior-level engineering and analytical expertise across PNT systems, supporting evaluation, modernization, and strategic decision-making for advanced navigation capabilities.
- Provide technical expertise in GPS/GNSS and multi-GNSS user equipment and system performance evaluation
- Support engineering trade studies, system architecture reviews, and technical assessments of navigation technologies
- Lead or contribute to studies and analysis efforts, producing reports, white papers, and decision-support documentation
- Assist in the development of PNT capability roadmaps, including modernization strategies and emerging technology integration
- Evaluate alternative navigation technologies such as INS, eLoran, and vision-based systems
- Incorporate cybersecurity considerations into systems engineering and acquisition processes (RMF-aligned support)
- Provide senior technical recommendations and rapid-response support to government stakeholders
- Contribute to PNT enterprise requirements discussions and technical working groups when applicable
This role requires deep expertise in PNT systems engineering, strong analytical capability, and experience supporting complex defense or government navigation programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field required
- 15+ years of experience in PNT, navigation systems, or systems engineering roles
- Active U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
- Strong understanding of GPS-guided weapons and PNT enterprise requirements processes
- Experience with system architecture design, trade studies, and technical analysis
- Knowledge of alternative navigation technologies (e.g., INS, eLoran, vision-based systems) preferred
- Strong technical writing, analytical thinking, and communication skills
- Experience participating in technical working groups or standards communities is a plus
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-stakes, mission-driven government environment
- Master’s degree or PhD preferred but not required
