Job Description

Testing & Laboratory Technician

OmniOn Power is seeking an entry level, electronic technician to perform prototype assembly, validation testing of electronic power supplies and dc power systems for telecom application and datacenters. The technician role consists of prototype assembly and executing a comprehensive list of thermal tests and documenting the results.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Interpret engineering assembly drawings, electrical schematics, and block diagrams

  • Assemble prototype DC power systems used in telecom and datacenter applications

  • Wire AC and DC power cables, assemble busbars, and circuit breaker panels

  • Apply thermocouples to critical components for thermal measurements

  • Setup data acquisition instruments, variacs and resistive load banks

  • Perform thermal testing of 5kW to 400kW ac/dc power systems

  • Execute detailed test plans to validate component stress conditions

  • Document all test results in accordance with standard product safety formats

  • Assist engineering teams to interpret and duplicate non-compliances

  • Maintain lab testing and calibration standards per ISO requirements

  • Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements such as LOTO

  • Ability to lift 40 pound components and assemble 750 KCMIL cables


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associates Degree (2 year) in Electronics

  • OR 2 years of study in an accredited engineering program OR 2 years of relevant engineering/technical work experience.


Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of thermal measurement techniques

  • Ability to interpret technical requirements as they apply to power systems to determine whether documented requirements and standards are met

  • Working knowledge of AC sources, electronics loads and thermal chambers

  • Experience with Microsoft MACROs, Visual Basic and other lab automation software

  • Ability to efficiently manage time and coordinate priorities with multiple engineers

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL and WORD

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for OmniOn Power in United States
