Description:

Landscapes Golf Management and Mountain Shadows Golf Resort Maintenance are seeking a Lead Grounds Maintenance team member to serve as a foreman. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to lead and participate in the maintenance of our premier golf courses, ensuring they remain pristine and inviting for our guests.

JOB SUMMARY

Participates in all activities related to the care and maintenance of the golf course, grounds, irrigation system, and equipment. Assigns and leads the work assignments of a maintenance crew as directed by the Assistant Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Help the Assistant Superintendent with planning and implementing staffing schedules to ensure quality standards are achieved at minimum employee cost.
  2. Oversee the work assignments of a maintenance crew and participates in regular course and grounds maintenance as well as various construction projects, which serve to keep the golf course in proper playing condition.
  3. Participates in the planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, and trees on the golf course and grounds.
  4. Trains staff on proper and safe course maintenance procedures.
  5. Enforces all appropriate quality and cleanliness standards including, but not limited to, employee hygiene and uniforms, equipment repair areas, equipment storage areas, chemical and fertilizer storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, lunch room areas, restrooms, etc.
  6. Enforce compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations related to employee safety and public safety.
  7. Possesses and understanding of the importance of safety and sees that safe operation procedures are observed in all daily activities. Adheres to the safety program.
  8. Operate and maintains equipment. Adjusts and makes minor repairs on equipment as necessary.
  9. Complies with golf course etiquette rules.
  10. Must be well mannered, display a smile at all times, greet guests, member and fellow employees when encountered, show appreciation to the guests and the members, and demonstrate a willingness to help guests and members at all times.
  11. Demonstrates a commitment to the work and success of the club and the Company by being service- and solution-oriented, having positive interactions with all club staff and members/guests, and meeting established quality, service and safety expectations. Performs additional assignments per the direction of club or Company managers.
  12. Regular and punctual attendance on site for all scheduled shifts is required.

WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS

Work hours may include early mornings and evenings on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May be exposed to inclement (non-threatening) weather, plant protection products, fertilizers, misdirected golf balls, and sharp and rapid equipment movement on a daily basis. Injury may result as a result of exposure to the above if safety policies and practices are not properly followed.

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Able to effectively and safely operate mowers, power tools, utility carts, weed eaters and shovels/hand tools.

2. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

3. Mechanical aptitude and safety consciousness.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. High school education required, college degree preferred.

2. 1-3 years golf course maintenance experience.

3. Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Seeing and hearing: read documents, computer screen, answer phones, communicate in person 0-50%

Standing and walking 50-75%

Climbing, stooping, squatting and kneeling 50-75%

Dexterity: utilizing phone, typing, and writing 0-25%

Lift in excess of 50 pounds 25%-75%
