This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Consultant 2 - Nuclear based in the United States.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to contribute to the design, modernization, and continued operation of critical nuclear power infrastructure. In this role, you will support complex engineering projects involving plant systems, equipment, technical documentation, and operational improvements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and industry stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable, and innovative engineering solutions. - Support nuclear power plant systems design activities, including the preparation and review of modification packages for operating facilities.
- Develop and review mechanical engineering drawings, functional diagrams, and technical documentation for nuclear plant systems.
- Perform engineering analyses, evaluations, and assessments to support plant modifications, upgrades, and operational improvements.
- Prepare technical specifications, procurement documentation, and equipment-related engineering deliverables.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and support equipment selection processes for nuclear power plant applications.
- Conduct studies, options evaluations, and engineering assessments for modifications to existing nuclear facilities.
- Develop engineering cost estimates for small to medium-sized client-requested project scopes.
- Interface with clients through office and plant site visits, technical presentations, and project status discussions.
- Lead engineering project teams and coordinate technical activities to ensure successful project execution.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 10+ years of professional experience within the power industry, preferably involving nuclear power plant systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles, industry codes, standards, and regulations applicable to nuclear facilities.
- Experience preparing engineering analyses, technical specifications, design documentation, and equipment evaluations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering groups.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with attention to technical accuracy and quality.
- Experience leading engineering projects or technical teams is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is beneficial but not required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
