Job Description

Lab Assistant (Student Worker)

Location: Post University Main Campus, MacDermid Hall
Supervisor: Laura Bailey, Associate Program Chair of Life and Physical Sciences & Lab Manager
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week
Pay: Minimum Wage
Duration: Academic Year 2026-2027 (year-round opportunity)

About the Role

As a Lab Assistant, you'll help support the daily operations of the Life and Physical Sciences Department (LPSD). This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment while supporting faculty, instructors, and fellow students.

What You'll Do

  • Assist faculty and lab instructors with preparing materials and setting up laboratory and field activities
  • Clean and organize laboratory equipment, glassware, and workspaces
  • Help maintain an efficient and safe laboratory environment
  • Complete other department-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have completed at least one high school laboratory science course
  • Be currently enrolled in a college laboratory science course (completion of a college lab course is preferred)
  • Be reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
  • Be comfortable handling laboratory glassware and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and fellow student assistants
  • Preferably be majoring in a laboratory science program at Post University (Biology minors are also encouraged to apply)
