This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Engineering Technician - DDG51 PSA Support based in United States.

The Engineering Technician will provide technical support for Post-Shakedown Availability (PSA) activities involving DDG51 Class ships. This role supports the development and implementation of technical requirements for newly constructed U.S. Navy surface ships following construction and pre-trial events. You will work closely with Navy stakeholders, project managers, hull managers, and engineering support organizations to coordinate waterfront activities and resolve technical requirements. The position combines hands-on knowledge of shipboard equipment with planning, testing, technical coordination, and status reporting. Frequent travel to major waterfront locations will be a core part of the role, with both on-site and remote responsibilities. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the readiness, testing, and continued operational support of critical naval platforms.

Accountabilities:

The Engineering Technician will support PSA planning and execution while coordinating technical activities across Navy stakeholders, project teams, and engineering organizations.

  • Coordinate with engineering organizations and hull managers to develop, modify, and implement technical requirements for DDG51 HM&E systems.
  • Apply practical knowledge of shipboard machinery and systems to support testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical assessments.
  • Coordinate activities, requirements, and technical information across project stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues arising during PSA and ship trial activities.
  • Maintain clear communication and status reporting throughout planning and execution activities.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with U.S. Navy surface ship HM&E systems, along with the technical knowledge and adaptability needed to support complex shipboard testing and engineering activities.

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience; alternatively, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience or a high school diploma with 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience operating, maintaining, testing, and repairing HM&E equipment installed on U.S. Navy surface ships.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, or conducting formal tests of HM&E equipment aboard U.S. Navy surface ships.
  • Demonstrated experience with surface ship systems, including gas turbine propulsion, machinery control, and other HM&E systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50–70% of the time within the continental United States.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense SECRET security clearance.
  • Strong technical communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Navy stakeholders, project managers, engineers, and technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently in both remote and waterfront environments.
  • Graduate-level training from a trade or industrial school for engineering is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Salary range of $71,800–$112,150 per year.
  • Full-time remote position with candidates considered across the continental United States.
  • Opportunity to support DDG51 Class naval platforms and mission-critical defense programs.
  • Health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits.
  • Paid leave and work-life programs.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Employee recognition and award programs.
  • Opportunities for growth and continued technical development.
  • Regular remote work combined with on-site support at waterfront locations.
  • Travel opportunities to support ship trial activities in locations including Mayport, FL; Norfolk, VA; and Pascagoula, MS.
