EHR Application Analyst - EPIC in Linton, Indiana at Greene County General Hospital

The EHR Application Analyst is responsible for the design, configuration, testing, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications and other clinical information systems. This position serves as a key liaison between clinical operations, providers, end users, information technology staff, and software vendors to ensure system functionality supports organizational goals, clinical workflows, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Configure, build, maintain and optimize assigned Epic applications, workflows, documentation tools, templates, forms, reports and other system components.
• Collaborate with clinicians, IT staff, and hospital leadership to optimize nursing, ancillary and provider documentation workflows.
• Analyze system needs, gather user requirements, and implement enhancements or new features.
• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and system upgrades to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, clinical best practices, and hospital policies.
• Develop and maintain user guides, workflow documentation, educational materials, and support resources.
• Provide training and education to end users regarding Epic functionality and workflow changes.
• Validate system functionality and ensure applications meet operational, regulatory, and clinical requirements.
• Coordinate testing efforts with end users, operational leaders, and vendor representatives.
• Identify defects, track issues, and verify resolution prior to implementation.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned applications and workflows.
• Respond to support requests and assist users in resolving application-related issues.
• Participate in after-hours support, system upgrades, and go-live events as required.
• Work closely with other Epic teams to ensure coordinated integration.
• Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
• Report mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
• Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Business, Information Technology or Healthcare related field required.

Licensure/Certification: Epic Certifications preferred. Valid Indiana driver’s licenses in good standing.

Experience:

Minimum three (3) years of experience in healthcare information systems, clinical operations, information technology, or a related healthcare environment. Prior EHR implementation experience required. Epic implementation, support, optimization, or analyst experience strongly preferred. Experience with workflow analysis, system configuration, testing, training, and end-user support preferred. Experience working with interdisciplinary clinical and operational teams preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and electronic health record systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to gather and document business and clinical requirements. Knowledge of project management principles and implementation methodologies. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Understanding of HIPAA, privacy regulations, and information security practices.

Physical Requirements:

Frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Ability to travel between hospital and off-site locations as needed. Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, on-call shifts, and extended hours during system implementations or critical support events.
