Job Description
Position Summary: Provides leadership and oversight of the Company's accounting and financial operations during a temporary maternity leave assignment. Manages U.S. and Mexico financial operations, including cash management, financial reporting, accounting activities, internal controls, and Mexico Shelter financial administration. Prepares and reviews financial information for Senior Leadership and supports Human Resources activities as needed. Performs professional work requiring knowledge of general accounting principles and practices and the application of accounting concepts, theories, and terminology.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Provide day-to-day direction, support and oversight to accounting and Human Resources staff to ensure continuity of operations during leave period.
- Accurately and timely furnish monthly financial statements to management, board and financial institutions.
- Analyze financial statements to determine company weakness and follow through with planning and results.
- Review and verify all general ledger activity on a daily/monthly basis.
- Manage and review cash flow activities for both U.S. and Mexico operations.
- Review and release weekly A/P Report for payment.
- Oversee financial operations of the Mexico Shelter company and coordinate with Shelter partners to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Ensure customer payment terms are followed through weekly review of A/R Aging.
- Review payroll, wage adjustments, and related employee changes to ensure proper authorization has been obtained.
- Support Human Resources activities as needed, including employee onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and general employee-related matters.
- Establish timelines for all governmental reporting and ensure timelines are followed.
- Ensure proper internal controls are maintained and followed.
- Review and prepare financial analyses and reports requested by Senior Leadership.
- Assist with special projects, reviews and reconciliations as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including prior experience serving as a Controller. Strong knowledge and application of GAAP is required. Experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, payroll oversight, and internal controls is required. Experience overseeing multi-entity operations and Mexico-based financial activities is preferred. Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Candidate must be able to quickly learn company processes and assume ownership of financial operations with limited transition and training time. Experience supervising and working alongside accounting and Human Resources staff is preferred
