Overview
Metalcraft of Mayville is seeking a Spot Welder to join our manufacturing team! If you have welding or metal fabrication experience and are looking for consistent work with opportunities to grow your skills, we want to hear from you.
Reporting to the Welding Manager, the Spot Welder is responsible for setting up and operating spot and seam welding equipment to fabricate and join metal parts according to blueprints, specifications, and production requirements.
This position requires a basic understanding of spot welding equipment, fixtures, setup parameters, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
Operate spot and seam welding equipment to join metal parts using spot welds or continuous seam welds.
Set up and position parts, fixtures, and holding jigs to maintain dimensional requirements.
Determine the appropriate number of welding points and contact cycles.
Adjust welding current, timing devices, and other machine settings based on job requirements.
Set up equipment and fixtures to properly hold and position workpieces.
Change and dress welding electrodes as needed.
Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, drawings, specifications, samples, and templates.
Use rulers, squares, fixed gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions.
Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet quality and production specifications.
Maintain company standards for safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Previous knowledge of welding fixtures and spot welding setup parameters preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, operating instructions, and work procedures.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to perform basic shop math.
Ability to use or quickly learn precision measuring tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work efficiently and follow instructions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to adapt to changing production needs.
Previous overhead crane experience is a plus.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Welding certificate or degree preferred.
At least one year of welding experience preferred; three years of experience is a plus.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must successfully complete Metalcraft's internal welding test.
