Job Overview

The Regional Safety Specialist serves as the field-facing safety leader responsible for supporting JDC Power Systems' safety programs across assigned regions. This position works directly with Field Service Technicians, Regional Managers, customers, and project teams to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety policies.

The Regional Safety Specialist is responsible for conducting field audits, coaching technicians, performing safety assessments, supporting incident investigations, and promoting a proactive safety culture. This role acts as an extension of the National Safety Manager by providing consistent safety presence and support throughout JDC's nationwide field operations.
Key Responsibilities

Field Safety Leadership:
Conduct routine field visits to customer sites, service locations, and active projects.
Observe work activities and provide real-time coaching on safe work practices.
Promote compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, PPE, and company safety requirements.
Participate in pre-job planning and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews.
Assist technicians and managers in identifying and mitigating workplace hazards.
Build strong working relationships with field personnel to strengthen JDC's safety culture.

Safety Audits and Inspections:
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled site safety audits and inspections.
Verify compliance with company procedures and customer safety requirements.
Document findings and ensure corrective actions are completed.
Evaluate work practices involving electrical systems, energized equipment, and critical power infrastructure.
Monitor equipment, PPE usage, housekeeping, and overall site safety performance.

Incident Investigation and Risk Reduction:
Respond to incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
Conduct preliminary investigations and gather supporting documentation.
Assist with root cause analyses and corrective action development.
Track corrective actions through completion.
Identify trends and recommend improvements to reduce future risk.

Safety Training and Development:
Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and safety awareness presentations.
Support onboarding and safety orientation for new employees.
Assist with certification tracking and training compliance.
Reinforce company safety expectations through ongoing field engagement.
Support the implementation of companywide safety initiatives.

Compliance and Reporting:
Maintain accurate audit, inspection, and investigation records.
Assist in tracking regional safety KPIs and performance metrics.
Ensure compliance with customer, company, and regulatory requirements.
Support preparation of monthly safety reports and trend analysis.
Collaborate with Regional Managers to address safety concerns and opportunities for improvement.

Customer and Project Support:
Interface with customers regarding site-specific safety requirements.
Participate in customer safety meetings and audits.
Support project mobilization efforts by ensuring employees meet required safety qualifications.
Assist operations teams with maintaining compliance on large or complex projects.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Associate's degree preferred in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in safety, electrical construction, industrial services, critical power, data centers, or related industries.

Experience working in field service or construction environments preferred.

Previous experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations preferred.

Ability to influence and engage field personnel.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.
Ability to work independently while supporting a geographically dispersed workforce.

Certifications — Required:
OSHA 30
CPR / First Aid / AED

Certifications — Preferred:
OSHA 510
NFPA 70E
CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician)
ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
CSP (Certified Safety Professional)

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

General Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on manufacturer production floors and job sites during inspections.

Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and reach to inspect equipment in confined or restricted spaces.

Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas as needed for inspection.

Ability to work in various industrial environments, including manufacturing floors, job sites, and outdoor conditions.

Manual Dexterity and Tool Use:
Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment safely and effectively during inspections.

Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity for detailed inspection work.

Ability to comply with PPE requirements, including but not limited to arc-flash-rated clothing, hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, and hearing protection.

Vision and Hearing:
Adequate visual acuity to read schematics, labels, nameplates, and test equipment displays.

Ability to distinguish colors for wiring and equipment identification.

Ability to receive and respond to alarms, equipment sounds, and safety communications on a manufacturing floor.

Work Environment Conditions:
Exposure to electrical hazards (energized and de-energized systems) during Factory Acceptance Testing.

Manufacturing floor conditions, including noise, moving equipment, and industrial dust.

Ability to comply with and work in full PPE as required by each manufacturer facility.

Travel and Schedule Demands:
Ability to travel regionally and nationally, including multi-day trips to manufacturer facilities and regional team sites.

Ability to adapt to FAT schedules, which are occasionally subject to short-notice changes driven by manufacturer production timelines.

Success Measures
The Regional Safety Specialist will be measured by:
Completion of field safety audits and inspections.

Reduction in incidents and near misses.

Training and certification compliance rates.

Corrective action closure rates.

Technician engagement in safety initiatives.

Customer and operational leadership feedback.

Overall safety performance within assigned regions.
