Job Description

I. General Purpose of the Job

The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Finance department general accounting

functions, including payroll and accounts payable activities.

II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with the Accounting Manager and the Human Resources Department on bi-weekly

processing of payroll.

• Prepare payroll entries for the accounting system.

• Coordinate backup for each payroll period with the HR department regarding time sheets

and time worked for all staff.

• Provide reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on payroll activities.

• Prepare the required disability payment reports.

• Process accounts payable in the accounting system on a weekly basis.

• Be responsible for all approvals of the priority invoice listings.

• Enter invoices into the accounts payable system.

• Process payments per the weekly accounts payable disbursements protocol.

• Prepare reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on the Accounts Payable activity.

• Perform research on payors as needed and account histories.

• Enter journal entries into the accounting system relative to all expenses as required.

• Other general accounting functions.

VI. Education and/or Experience

A successful candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited

institution. Two years of experience in the health care environment is preferred.

VII. Necessary Skills & Abilities

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance

instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability

to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and

interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or

diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized

situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate to advanced knowledge

of Microsoft Office software and Accounting software including but not limited to Excel,

PowerPoint, B.I. software, Outlook, Word, etc..

IX. Travel

This job may require minimal travel between clinic sites and/or business travel depending upon

scheduling needs.
