About the role
The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the service department technician’s “on the job” training, processes, and operations, ensuring high quality maintenance, repair, and servicing of equipment. This role combines hands on technical expertise with leadership, mentoring and training technicians, customer satisfaction, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
What you'll do
Technician Oversight and Development:
- Assist technicians in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment.
- Assist Vermeer Service Training Department with technicians' training progress, certifications, and advancement through the Vermeer STCP program.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot complex service concerns.
Training and Development:
- Assists in training technicians to enhance technical competency.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment, service bulletins, and industry standards.
Customer Service:
- Assist service department leadership with building and maintaining strong customer relationships by addressing customer concerns and providing effective service solutions.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering timely, high-quality service.
Operational Management:
- Assist Service Manager by ensuring service technicians are efficient, organized, and meet safety standards.
- Assist Service Manager by monitoring and maintaining shop tools and equipment to ensure they meet workplace safety protocols.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ years’ experience in industrial service or technical environment.
- Must possess Vermeer Advanced Technician Certification and be enrolled in the Vermeer STCP Master Technician Certification program.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to multi-task and be detailed orientated with demonstrated follow through and organizational skills.
- Must have own tools for most general repairs.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Basic typing and computer skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic and electrical ISO schematics.
- Strong technical knowledge of equipment maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, train, and mentor a team of technicians.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to repair hydrostatic and electrical systems.
Performance Goals:
- Lead Technician will maintain 100% Efficiency while performing their role.
- Lead Technician will maintain 65% Recovery while performing this role.
