Washington Montessori School is an independent, coeducational day school serving students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. POSITION OVERVIEW

Washington Montessori School is seeking a part-time Soccer Coach and Sports Van Driver for the 2026–27 school year. This position supports the Upper Elementary and Middle School athletic program and is ideal for someone who is energetic, reliable, and passionate about working with young athletes. Onboarding begins August 31, 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching

• Serve as head coach for one of the school’s soccer teams for the fall season.

• Organize and lead practices that build fundamental skills, foster teamwork, and develop each student-athlete’s confidence and love of sport.

• Coach games and meets, motivating student-athletes in a manner consistent with the school’s athletic philosophy and mission.

• Communicate with the Athletic Director regarding team progress, scheduling, and any student concerns.

• Model sportsmanship, positivity, and the school’s values in all interactions with students, families, and opposing teams.

Transportation

• Serve as a team driver the season, transporting student-athletes to and from away games and meets in 14-passenger school vans.

• Must hold or be willing to obtain an “A” endorsement on a valid Connecticut driver’s license prior to transporting students.

• Follow all school and state regulations for student transportation, ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers.

SCHEDULE

The standard weekly commitment for this position is as follows:

• Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 3:15–5:00 pm

All commitments follow the school’s athletic calendar. There are typically 5–6 early departure or late return days per season to accommodate travel to away events; candidates must be flexible around these occasional schedule variations. There are no weekend commitments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills & Competencies

• Experience coaching soccer at the middle school, high school, or club level.

• Genuine enthusiasm for working with students in grades 5–8 and a patient, motivating approach to coaching.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; willingness to obtain a Connecticut “A” endorsement required.

• Ability to maintain a calm, safe, and positive environment for student-athletes at all times.

• Reliable, punctual, and a strong communicator.

• Alignment with the Montessori values of the school and a commitment to student-centered athletics.
