Media / journalism / communications Evaluator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Media / Journalism / Communications Evaluator based in Canada.

This contract opportunity is designed for an experienced media, journalism, or communications professional who can bring strong editorial judgment to the evaluation of AI-generated content. You will assess AI outputs against domain-specific quality standards, focusing on accuracy, relevance, clarity, and overall presentation. Your expertise will help identify factual issues, communication weaknesses, and aesthetic or structural problems that may affect the quality of generated content. You will provide clear, structured feedback that supports continuous improvement of AI models and their outputs. The role involves working alongside subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and relevance across evaluation datasets. Working remotely and asynchronously, you will contribute professional insight to projects shaping the quality and reliability of emerging AI systems.

Accountabilities:
  • Evaluate AI-generated media, journalism, and communications content against established quality rubrics and domain-specific standards.
  • Review outputs for factual accuracy, relevance, clarity, tone, structure, presentation, and overall communication quality.
  • Identify factual errors, inconsistencies, editorial weaknesses, aesthetic issues, and presentation problems.
  • Provide clear, structured, and actionable written feedback to help improve AI-generated content and model performance.
  • Apply professional media, journalism, and communications expertise to assess whether outputs meet appropriate industry standards.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to maintain consistency, accuracy, and relevance across evaluation datasets.
  • Work independently and asynchronously while meeting deadlines and maintaining consistently high-quality evaluation standards.
  • Contribute insights that help improve the reliability, usefulness, and effectiveness of AI-generated communications and media content.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in media, journalism, communications, editorial, content, or a closely related field.
  • Native or professional-level fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to assess content for accuracy, clarity, relevance, tone, and audience suitability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle factual, structural, stylistic, and presentation issues.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate content objectively against defined criteria.
  • Ability to produce concise, structured, and constructive written feedback.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, particularly presentation and document tools such as Google Slides.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment while managing deadlines and priorities.
  • An advanced degree, such as a Master’s degree or higher, from a reputable institution is preferred.
