Role Description

The Methods Engineer is responsible for developing, documenting, and continuously improving the manufacturing methods, work instructions, tooling strategies, and production processes used to support VIP aircraft completions, modifications, and maintenance activities. This role serves as the bridge between Engineering and Production by translating engineering designs into efficient, standardized, and repeatable manufacturing processes that support safety, quality, schedule performance, and cost objectives.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, Procurement, Quality, and Continuous Improvement, the Methods Engineer develops manufacturing routings, production documentation, labor standards, and process improvements that optimize workflow while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions

· Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing methods, work instructions, routings, and process documentation supporting aircraft completions and modification programs.

· Translate engineering drawings, specifications, and design changes into efficient manufacturing processes for production teams.

· Develop manufacturing sequences that improve productivity while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

· Create and maintain Bills of Process (BOP), manufacturing routings, labor standards, and work instructions.

· Evaluate manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to reduce production lead time, labor hours, waste, and rework.

· Collaborate with Engineering to ensure new product designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and support efficient aircraft installation.

· Partner with Planning and Production to improve workflow, material flow, and production sequencing.

· Develop tooling concepts, fixtures, templates, and manufacturing aids that improve quality, repeatability, and technician efficiency.

· Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by developing production methods prior to aircraft arrival.

· Analyze production issues and develop permanent corrective actions that improve manufacturing consistency.

· Participate in root cause investigations involving quality escapes, production delays, or manufacturing discrepancies.

· Support Continuous Improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles, standard work, visual management, and process optimization techniques.

· Develop and maintain standard labor estimates and support estimating activities for new customer proposals when required.

· Review engineering changes and determine production impact, labor requirements, tooling needs, and implementation strategy.

· Ensure manufacturing documentation complies with FAA regulations, Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM), Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs), and company quality standards.

· Provide technical support to Production Supervisors, Leads, and technicians during aircraft completion activities.

· Support implementation of ERP, MES, and digital manufacturing initiatives.

· Prepare reports, process documentation, manufacturing standards, and presentations for operational leadership.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

· Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline preferred.

· Equivalent combination of education and directly related manufacturing experience may be considered.

· Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, methods engineering, or production engineering experience.

· Experience supporting aerospace, aviation, automotive, defense, or other complex manufacturing environments preferred.

· Experience developing manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, or standard work documentation.

· Experience supporting production operations in a regulated manufacturing environment.

· Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

· Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.

· Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Required Skills and Abilities

· Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods, process engineering, and production operations.

· Experience developing work instructions, manufacturing routings, Bills of Process (BOP), and standard operating procedures.

· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

· Understanding of production planning, workflow optimization, and capacity planning.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process improvements.

· Experience conducting time studies, labor analysis, and productivity assessments.

· Knowledge of tooling design, manufacturing fixtures, and production support equipment.

· Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Planning, Production, Procurement, and Quality organizations.

· Excellent organizational and project management skills.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Experience with ERP, MRP, or manufacturing execution systems (MES) preferred.

· Knowledge of FAA Part 145, Part 25, AS9100, or aerospace manufacturing standards preferred.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
