Company: Buttas Hot Grabba
Contract Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Location: Field-based within the territory shown in this posting
Compensation: $30,000 annualized fixed contract component plus performance-based earnings
Expected Total Earnings: Approximately $55,000–$65,000 for solid performers; top performers may earn $80,000 or more
Vehicle Allowance: $350 per month
Can you walk into approximately 15 retail stores per day, reach the owner or buyer, win a first order, and keep that account purchasing?
Buttas Hot Grabba is seeking a proven retail hunter to open new retail accounts and build recurring demand for our products. This is a field-based, new-business-development opportunity—not an inherited route or a distributor-acquisition position.
Regional Sales Managers establish and manage distributor relationships. Outside Sales Representatives focus on opening tobacco stores, smoke shops, convenience stores, and other qualified retailers within their assigned territories.
The objective is straightforward: create new retail demand, generate first orders, and develop those stores into active, repeat customers.
What You Will DoIndependently prospect and open new qualified retail accounts.
Conduct approximately 15 in-person store visits per field day, with a contractual expectation of 150 documented visits every two weeks.
Reach store owners, buyers, and other decision-makers.
Present Buttas products and communicate their value to retailers.
Secure initial orders using the approved sales model for the territory.
Follow up with newly opened stores to encourage timely reorders.
Develop each account’s product selection, order frequency, and sales volume.
Build and maintain at least 30 active stores beginning in the fourth month of the engagement.
Maintain accurate records of store visits, contacts, orders, follow-ups, and account status using the approved reporting system.
Provide timely market information concerning competitor activity, retailer feedback, pricing, product demand, and potential opportunities.
Coordinate with the appropriate Regional Sales Manager or Sales Director while independently planning and executing territory activities.
Protect company pricing, confidential information, customer relationships, and brand reputation.
An active store is defined as a store that has placed an order within the previous 60 days.
How Sales Are FulfilledThe operating model depends on the territory and will be confirmed in the written independent contractor agreement.
Distributor-Supported TerritoriesThis model currently applies to:
Washington, D.C.
Baltimore, Maryland
Houston, Texas
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Charlotte, North Carolina
The contractor secures the retailer’s order and submits it to an approved distributor using the assigned representative code or connects the retailer directly with that distributor.
The approved distributor delivers the product, invoices the retailer, and collects payment. The contractor does not purchase, store, deliver, or resell product and does not handle customer payments.
The contractor’s role is to bring new retail business to the distributor and help those stores become consistent, repeat customers.
Developing MarketsThis model currently applies to:
Arizona
New York and New Jersey
Colorado
Pennsylvania
Chicago, Illinois
Massachusetts
In these markets, the contractor sells directly to qualified retail stores using the company-approved pricing and operating model.
The contractor receives product at the following rep costs:
Small Bottles: $30 per box
Big Bottles: $43 per box
Packetz: $18 per box
Whole Leaf: $23 per box
The contractor sells to retail stores at or above authorized retail pricing and retains the difference as sales earnings.
Direct-to-retail activity may begin only after Hot Grabba confirms that the applicable licensing, registration, tobacco-tax, and compliance requirements have been satisfied.
CompensationFixed Contract ComponentUp to $2,500 per month, equivalent to $30,000 annualized, is available for satisfactory completion and documentation of the activity and performance deliverables established in the independent contractor agreement.
Beginning in month four, maintaining at least 30 active stores is required to remain eligible for the full fixed contract component.
Vehicle AllowanceA $350 monthly vehicle and fuel allowance is provided separately from sales earnings.
Distributor-Supported Sales IncentivesOnly sales completed and verified through an approved distributor qualify:
$50 for each new store that places its first order.
An additional $50 when that store places its first reorder within 60 days.
$5 for every box purchased by the contractor’s stores during the first 12 months after each store is opened.
Orders and reorders are verified through distributor invoices and monthly reports using the contractor’s assigned representative code. Incentives are calculated monthly and paid for the prior month.
Developing-Market Sales EarningsIn an approved developing market, the contractor retains the difference between the applicable rep cost and the authorized retail selling price.
The complete territory-specific compensation, product-cost, and payment schedule will be included in the written independent contractor agreement.
Earnings PotentialA solid performer opening approximately 15 new stores per month may earn approximately $55,000–$65,000 annually in fixed and performance-based compensation.
Top performers opening approximately 25 new stores per month may earn $80,000 or more.
These figures are estimates, not guarantees. Actual earnings depend on verified account openings, reorder activity, product volume, compliance, and overall performance. The monthly vehicle allowance is not included in these estimates.
Required QualificationsAt least one year of successful outside sales or route-sales experience involving new-account acquisition.
A demonstrated history of opening at least 10 new customer accounts per month, supported by specific performance numbers.
Evidence that newly opened accounts continued purchasing or placed repeat orders.
Ability and willingness to conduct approximately 15 in-person retail visits per field day.
Strong prospecting, presentation, objection-handling, closing, and follow-up skills.
Ability to work independently without daily supervision.
Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, appropriate vehicle insurance, and willingness to travel throughout the territory.
Smartphone and ability to use CRM, reporting, navigation, and communication applications.
Ability to maintain accurate and timely sales activity records.
Willingness to operate according to the applicable distributor-supported or developing-market model.
High school diploma or GED.
Two or more years of successful outside, route, or new-business sales experience.
Experience selling tobacco, convenience-store products, vape products, beverages, consumer packaged goods, or similar products.
Existing relationships with smoke shops, tobacco retailers, convenience stores, wholesalers, distributors, or relevant retail chains.
Experience working with distributors, wholesalers, or route-sales organizations.
Experience developing new accounts into repeat, active customers.
Knowledge of the assigned geographic market.
Industry relationships are helpful but not required. A strong hunter who can build new relationships and consistently produce measurable results is encouraged to apply.
