Behavior Support Specialist in Council Bluffs, Iowa at Hands Of Heartland

Looking for dependable, compassionate direct support professionals to work with a individual with a developmental disability who has some behavioral challenges. Qualified applicants should have at least two years of related experience or a degree/certification related to behavioral health.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide services to address the wants and needs of people with developmental disabilities, which may include:

- Supporting personal goals

- Administering medications

- Planning and preparing meals

- Assisting with activities of daily living

- Transporting to and from day program and community outings

- Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy

- Ensuring all needs are addressed in a respectful manner with dignity and personal choice

- Completing and maintaining required documentation on a web-based system

Qualifications:

- Ability to be certified in enhanced behavioral intervention

- Valid driver's license

- Current automobile insurance

- Ability to pass registry and background checks

- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed

- Ability to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or to complete an emergency safety intervention with a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive

- Prefer at least two years of related experience or a degree/certification related to behavioral health.
