Welder / Fitter – Overhead Crane Fabrication
Location: Ashland, VA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM, with Saturdays as needed
Starting Pay: $26.00/hour, with potential for higher pay based on experience.
We are hiring a skilled Welder/Fitter to fabricate and weld components for overhead cranes and related equipment. This role requires the ability to work from shop drawings, interpret welding symbols, and produce high-quality Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) welds that meet applicable AWS standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesFit, fabricate, and weld crane components using shop drawings.
Produce quality FCAW welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D14.1 standards.
Interpret welding symbols and fabrication specifications.
Pass a full-penetration vertical weld test and an overhead fillet weld test.
Follow safety procedures in a heavy industrial environment.
Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work 10-hour shifts and Saturdays when required.
Welding and fitting experience in an industrial or fabrication environment.
Ability to read shop drawings and interpret AWS welding symbols.
Experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
Ability to meet the required vertical full-penetration and overhead fillet weld test standards.
Understanding of AWS D1.1 and D14.1 welding standards.
Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial setting and lift up to 50 lbs.
Dependable attendance and commitment to quality workmanship.
Contract-to-hire opportunity, with potential for full-time employment after 90 days.
$850 sign-on bonus after six months of employment.
