Pharmacy Management Pharmacist Job Description

Pharmacist will work within the Medication Review Pharmacy Management Division providing support to hospitals currently under contract for pharmacy management services. Pharmacist will work in a staff and/or pharmacy manager position within the contracted account. Pharmacist will report directly to the VP of Pharmacy Management at Medication Review. Performance duties include working pharmacist duties within assigned hospital.

Specific Responsibilities May Include:

  • Performs the duties of staff pharmacist/pharmacy manager when necessary.
  • Responsible for activities related to maintenance of qualified personnel and scheduling of department employees as limited to direct reports.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates services of the pharmacy department.
  • Responsible for ongoing monitoring and evaluation of pharmaceutical services and oversees appropriate utilization and control of pharmaceuticals throughout the hospital.
  • Works cooperatively with hospital stakeholders to establish, update and monitor pharmacy related policies and procedures. These policies and procedures will be reviewed annually and revised as appropriate.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor the process whereby emergency pharmaceutical services will be provided to patients when normal community pharmacy services are unavailable.
  • Shares responsibility for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the department’s budget with hospital administration.
  • Responsible for quality control of all pharmacy programs.
  • Responsible for budget control, by acquiring quality drugs and related equipment at the best price possible.
  • Acts as a resource person for the Medical Practitioners and hospital staff concerning information on medications and associated services.
  • Serve as a lead/member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medical Staff Meetings and Infection Control meetings as applicable
  • Monitors and updates charge system for drugs and pharmaceutical services.
  • Directs and coordinates purchasing and maintenance of pharmacy inventory.
  • Directs, coordinates and oversees completion of annual inventory of pharmacy supplies.
  • Provides in-services to hospital staff as needed.
  • Participates in hospital committees and process improvement teams as assigned by hospital administrator or designee.
  • Ensures the pharmacy is in compliance with all RCW’s and WAC’s.
  • Reports to the Hospital Administrator or designee while working in the hospital environment.
Requirements:

Minimum Employment Requirements:

  1. Education: Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education. Must hold a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  2. Currently licensed in the State of Washington
  3. Position requires travel - No exception.
  4. Knowledge of electronic healthcare record systems and automated drug distribution systems
  5. Hospital experience is preferred. Physical Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a computer.
  2. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, kneel, reach overhead, bend down, open boxes, stock shelves
  3. Must be able to drive for 2 or more hours
  4. Must live with in 2 hours of facility in Tonasket or Colville WA.
