UNICEF Canada currently operates under a Fixed-Hybrid model that requires team members to attend the office at least 2 days/week (Tuesday and Wednesday).

About the Role

The Web & Digital Developer is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining UNICEF Canada’s websites, digital fundraising experiences, and online engagement platforms to deliver accessible, high-performing, and user-centric digital experiences. This role plays a key part in advancing organizational priorities including brand visibility, supporter engagement, fundraising growth, campaign performance, and digital service delivery.


As UNICEF Canada enters a new phase of strategic growth focused on digital engagement, innovation, and supporter experience, this role will help strengthen the digital ecosystem that connects supporters to UNICEF’s mission, enabling meaningful action and generating critical support for children and youth around the world.

The role works closely with marketing, communications, fundraising, DPM, and technology teams to build and optimize web experiences, donation journeys, email campaigns, and supporter-facing digital products across multiple platforms and channels.


Key Responsibilities

Website Development, UX & Optimization

Develop, enhance, andmaintainresponsive, accessible, and user-friendly websites and webexperiences, and donation formsBuild and implement front-end features, templates, and components aligned with brand, accessibility, SEO, and performance standardsTranslate UX/UI concepts into high-quality digital experiences across devices and browsersTroubleshoot technical issues,monitorsite health, and implement fixes and enhancementsin a timely mannerCollaborate with communications, fundraising, marketing,and DPMto design intuitive supporter journeys, campaign pages, and landing pagesBuild,maintain,optimize, and continuously improve online donation forms and fundraising experiences to support conversion and donor engagement goalsUse analytics, testing, user feedback, and performance data toidentifyopportunities to improve usability, conversion, SEO, accessibility, and overall digital effectivenessMonitor website performance, campaign engagement, and userbehaviourusing analytics and reporting tools, and provide recommendations for optimization Apply a strong quality assurance (QA) mindset across all development activities, including testing, validation, troubleshooting, and deployment readinessDevelop and follow QA processes to ensure code stability, cross-browser/device compatibility, accessibility compliance, and reliable performance prior to production deployment
Digital Fundraising & Email Deployment

Build, deploy, test, andmaintainfundraising and engagement emails using Engaging Networks native tools and custom HTML/CSS templates Support digital fundraising campaigns by developing andoptimizingemail journeys, campaign landing pages, donation forms, and supporter engagement experiences Ensure emails and digital experiences are responsive, accessible, and optimized across devices, browsers, and email clients Collaborate with fundraising and campaign teams to execute digital campaigns accurately and efficiently within established timelines Troubleshoot rendering, deliverability, and deployment issues related to email campaigns and supporter journeysPerform end-to-end QA testing for websites, donation forms, email campaigns, tracking implementations, and supporter journeys prior to deployment to ensure accuracy, functionality, and a seamless user experienceContent & CMS Management

Manage content, templates, and components within CMS platforms such as WordPress or DrupalPartner with internal teams to publish, update, and quality-check content efficiently and accuratelyMaintain consistency in brand, content presentation, and digital best practices across web propertiesIntegration & Functionality

Implement and support integrations with third-party platforms such as CRM systems, donation tools, forms, and analytics solutionsBuild andmaintainweb functionality that supports fundraising campaigns, supporter journeys, and digital engagement initiativesCoordinate testing and deployment of new features to ensure reliable performance and a seamless user experience
Security, Compliance & Governance

Maintain website security, updates, backups, documentation, and technical standards to support secure and stable operations Help ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG), privacy regulations, SEO best practices, and organizational governance requirements Support ongoing improvements to digital reliability, performance, and operational sustainabilityAnalytics, Tracking & Optimization

Implement, manage, and troubleshoot tracking frameworks across websites, donation forms, and digital campaigns using tools such as Google Tag Manager (GTM), Google Analytics (GA4), Meta Pixel, and other marketing and conversion tracking platforms Supportaccuratecampaign attribution, conversion tracking, audience segmentation, and performance measurement across digital channels Work with data, marketing, and fundraising teams tovalidatetracking integrity and ensure reliable reporting and analytics data Assistin managing andoptimizingdata flows and integrations with platforms such asBigQuery, CRM systems, analytics platforms, and digital engagement tools Monitor campaign, donation form, and user journey performance toidentifyopportunities for optimization and improved supporter conversion Support A/B testing, tagging governance, and digital analytics best practices across web and fundraising properties Helpmaintaindata quality, documentation, and consistency across digital tracking implementationsRequired Qualifications

    Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field3–5+ years of experiencein web developmentProficiencyin HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one modern framework (e.g., React, Vue)Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal)Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git)Experience with APIs and integrations is an assetUnderstanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and SEO best practicesStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAttention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesCollaborative mindset withstrong communicationskillsCommitment to continuous learning, including emerging technologies (e.g., AI tools)
