The Role:
As a Special Education Teacher, your main responsibility will be to help students with special education needs reach their full potential through personalized learning activities and experiences. Your role will be crucial in providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to grow academically and personally.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
Experience: Experience in a classroom setting is strongly preferred
Licenses or Certifications:
Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification (ESE K-12)
Expectations:
Our expectations for special education teachers include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, district, and school Special Education regulations and policies
Develop and manage the IEPs and ensure all requirements of the IEP are met
Oversee the development, revision, and execution of student IEPs and 504 Plans
Review and, where necessary, revise student IEPs to ensure all students have the necessary supports to be successful
Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula as needed, answer questions, and provide strategies to assist special education students in the general education classroom
Use progress-monitoring tools to analyze student results for the purpose of modifying and adjusting strategies, programming, and IEPs
Adapt and differentiate general education teachers’ weekly lesson plans and assessments as needed to meet individual student goals
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, teachers, and the leadership team
Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions
