Summary: The role and responsibility of the Lead Med Transporter/ DSP is to ensure that all medical appointments are scheduled, all necessary information that effect the health and safety along with compliance regulations are documented and transferred between the Residential and Nursing Departments. The Lead Med Transporter/ DSP will ensure that all Med Transporters/ DSPs schedules are up to date and that each Med Transporter/ DSP is accounted for daily. They will have the ability to organize and assign Med Transporter/DSP schedules as necessary to keep appointments current. Along with assisting IRA locations when they are in need of additional staff at assigned locations. They must understand, commitment to, and respect the people being served, their family members and the agency’s mission. They are responsible to ensure that the services provided are geared to promote personal growth, skill acquisition, and community inclusion. These services must be meaningful to the people served and encourage and respect their choices. Hours are variable based on the needs of the person receiving services; some overtime and shift coverage is necessary.
Lead Med Transporter/ DSP Responsibilities:
- Maintain and review the appointment calendar in Therap along with each IRA calendar created by the Med Transporter/ DSP verifying that appointment dates and times are correct for each individual.
- Ensure all consultations are printed for each appointment weekly or when the nurse says that all the information has been added.
- Accountable for emailing monthly appointments to each IRA and Day Program as well as weekly reminders with appointment information, and location of pick up for the Individual.
- Maintain ready to go folders and update as needed with medication list, immunization records and other pertinent health records. Make sure extra masks are in folder as well and their In Flight picture ID.
- Email IRA Manager and IRA RN once the appointment is completed with appropriate information from visit. Make sure the consult folder for nursing has updated and accurate documentation.
- Input all follow up appointments with scanned consults into Therap calendar and add appointment to IRA calendar.
- Ensures the Ready to Go books are updated.
- Fill in for Med Transporter/DSP as needed (responsibilities below)
- Obtain and maintain AMAP certification status to provide medication administration whenever needed. Must pour medications at least one time per week.
- Track med pours, report information to the nursing department and confirm with Training Coordinator.
- Any other task deemed necessary by Director of Residential
Med Transporter/ DSP Responsibilities
- Ensure proper documentation, including but not limited to programming services in Therap, GERs and behavior data in Therap and MAR documentation, is completed daily.
- Monitor and document vital signs, toileting, bowel tracking, weights, hygiene sheets are entered on all shifts, notify nursing if there are discrepancies.
- Weekly inventory of medication carts in caseload, ensuring meds, supplies are ordered, in place. Clean and organize med cart/room; pay attention to supplies (cups, garbage bags, hand sanitizer, etc.)
- Regularly review Behavior Support Plans and IPOPs or safeguards as required by the worksite for people being supported.
- Provide and maintain the highest levels of person-centered direct care to ensure effective, efficient delivery of services while serving as a model for that care to all members of the team. This includes, but is not limited to, the implementation of all Life Plans, Staff Action Plans, Behavior Support Plans, IPOPs, fire safety plans, defined levels of supervision, nursing directives, the DSP Core Competencies, the NADSP Code of Ethics, In Flight, Inc. policies and procedures, and all other best practices of direct support.
- Provide coverage at the IRA as needed.
Job Requirements
- Must an approved agency driver and remain in good standing.
- Must obtain med certification and remain in good standing.
- Must have strong working knowledge of Therap.
- Must have strong knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Microsoft Word
- Ability to multi task
- Excellent communication skills
- Ensure a high level of confidentiality.
Education
- Associates (bachelor’s preferred)
SKILLS Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Conditions of Employment: The employee agrees to comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the position. All staff must pass all NYS Justice Center Background Check Requirements and Physical. In addition, the employee has a duty to report any suspected violations of the law (including any motor vehicle infractions) to the Human Resources Director.

• Attend In Flight orientation located in Red Hook.
