Job Description
Location: Beachwood, OH (Perspectives Academy)
Position Type: Part-Time (1–2 days per week)
Schedule: Highly Flexible – Set your own schedule!
About Perspectives Academy
Perspectives Academy is a specialized therapeutic educational environment dedicated to helping students thrive. We are currently undergoing an exciting expansion and redesign of our facility to accommodate up to 60 students, featuring dedicated, state-of-the-art therapeutic and sensory rooms designed specifically to give our team and students the best environment possible for growth and success.
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, independent, and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our multidisciplinary team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to utilize our brand-new sensory and therapy spaces to deliver impactful, holistic, and individualized care. This is an ideal position for a clinician looking for ultimate autonomy, as you have the flexibility to set your own schedule across 1 to 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
As an OT at Perspectives Academy, your work will span several critical areas of student development and school participation:
Sensory Assessment & Evaluation: Conduct standardized and informal assessments, administer sensory profiles, and identify individual sensory processing patterns (including sensitivities, seeking, and avoidance behaviors) to determine how they impact attention, behavior, and learning.
Sensory-Based Interventions: Develop individualized sensory regulation strategies, sensory breaks, and toolkits; instruct students in recognizing sensory overload; and collaborate with staff regarding IEP/ETR documentation.
Environmental Modifications: Identify environmental triggers in the school, recommend seating and workspace adaptations, modify sensory stimuli (lighting, noise, visual), and maximize the use of our dedicated sensory-friendly spaces.
Emotional Regulation & Mental Wellness: Teach students to recognize emotional states and triggers. Help them implement coping strategies (e.g., deep breathing, grounding, mindfulness, sensory calming) and create personalized regulation plans.
Executive Functioning Support: Assist students with planning, organization, time management, task initiation, and managing deadlines—especially where impacted by anxiety, depression, or ADHD.
Social & Life Skills Development: Help students read social cues, navigate boundaries, and build healthy friendships. Support the development of independent daily living skills (personal hygiene, meal prep, money management) and community/transportation navigation.
Identity & Confidence Building: Guide students in exploring meaningful activities, hobbies, sports, art, and vocational options that foster a sense of competence and purpose.
Qualifications
Current State of Ohio Occupational Therapist license.
Experience working with children or adolescents, particularly those experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, or sensory processing differences.
Strong collaborative spirit and the ability to consult effectively with classroom teachers and administrative staff.
What We Offer
Competitive Compensation commensurate with experience.
Unmatched Flexibility: Complete autonomy over your weekly schedule (1–2 days/week).
Premium Environment: Access to brand-new, purpose-built sensory and therapy rooms designed to support your clinical interventions.
To Apply
If you are looking for a rewarding, flexible role where you can truly shape a therapeutic environment and make a lasting impact on students' lives, we want to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a brief summary of your weekly availability.
