Description:
- Assist in the monthly accounting close process
- Perform monthly journal entries and accruals
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, collaborate to resolve issues, and prepare correcting journal entries when necessary
- Prepare monthly financial reports for executive team and ownership
- Perform financial statement analysis to explain budget to actual variances (utilized AI to assist)
- Prepare sales and use tax filings, and other miscellaneous tax filings as requested
- Manage annual 1099 reporting processes, ensuring accurate vendor classification, compliance with the IRS requirements, and timely filing
- Review personal property tax returns prepared by staff accountant to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable state and local regulations
- Plan, organize and help coordinate year-end close process
- Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Complete ad hoc reporting and ad hoc projects as requested
- Assist with financial requests from proposal team as needed
- Identify, evaluate, and implement AI-driven solutions to streamline accounting workflows, enhance financial analysis, and improve operational effectiveness across the finance function
- Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness, including strengthening internal controls
- Support acquisition activities and post-acquisition integration
- Provide cross-functional support to the accounting team during employee absences and leaves, ensuring continuity of daily accounting operations and timely completion of critical tasks
- Establish best practices in use of Deltek Vantagepoint software
- Build and maintain relationships across the company to foster trust and accountability
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Experience working in public accounting strongly preferred
- CPA designation is a plus
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing projects
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Desire to learn
- Experience working in a job-costing accounting environment is preferred
- Experience in the architecture, engineering or construction industry is preferred
- Experience with Deltek VantagePoint is a plus
