We are a fast-growing aerospace manufacturing company seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in New Britain, CT. This is a hands-on, high-impact role with broad exposure across accounting, manufacturing operations, and financial reporting.
This role is a strong fit for candidates with backgrounds in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or plant accounting and involves ownership of the monthly close process, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance support within a manufacturing environment.What You’ll Do
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, general ledger (GL) review, account reconciliations, payroll accounting, and variance analysis
- Own monthly financial reporting and management reporting to support business performance, operational decision-making, and financial analysis
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Perform cost accounting support activities, including inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing financial reporting
- Manage inventory cycle count program, including coordination, reconciliation of variances, and investigation of discrepancies
- Track capital projects (Capex) from purchase order through capitalization and maintain fixed asset accounting records
- Partner with operations, production, and supply chain teams to improve financial accuracy, inventory visibility, and cost control
- Assist with internal and external audits, internal controls, and compliance activities
- Serve as backup support for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions
- Support process improvement, continuous improvement initiatives, and ERP system enhancements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
- 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close
- Cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or plant accounting experience strongly preferred
- ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills and collaborative, cross-functional mindset
- Experience with process improvement and operational finance support
- Broad exposure across accounting, finance, and manufacturing operations—not limited to a single function
