This role plays a key part in shaping the successful delivery of public infrastructure projects that directly impact communities. You will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and supporting the full bid lifecycle for civil works such as parks, trails, bridges, and municipal developments. Working remotely within a collaborative, deadline-driven environment, you will coordinate closely with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors. The position requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously. You will contribute to both pre-construction planning and strategic bid decisions, helping ensure profitability and project success. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and supporting the end-to-end estimating process for civil construction bids, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with project requirements. You will interpret technical documentation and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop complete and reliable cost submissions.
- Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for civil infrastructure projects including parks, bridges, trails, and municipal works
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine scope and requirements
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop accurate cost breakdowns using estimating tools and Excel
- Coordinate pricing and scope alignment with subcontractors and suppliers
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and potential value engineering solutions
- Support pre-construction planning activities and assist in project handover to operations teams
- Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to ensure bid accuracy and feasibility
The ideal candidate brings solid experience in civil construction estimating and a strong understanding of infrastructure project delivery. You are detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced bidding environment with multiple concurrent deadlines.
- 4–7 years of experience in civil construction estimating
- Background in civil infrastructure, site development, or landscape construction
- Experience with municipal or public sector tenders considered an asset
- Proficiency with estimating tools such as HeavyBid (or similar), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple bids and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams
- Diploma or degree in construction, engineering, or a related field considered an asset
- Ability to work aligned with Eastern Time business hours
- Competitive salary range: $80,000–$100,000 per year
