Registered Nurse in Chanute, Kansas at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center

The RN in the Outpatient Surgery area provides pre-operative and post-operative care for the patient undergoing operative or other invasive procedures. Emphasis is placed on pre-operative education including review of the patient’s plan of care with the patient and family, efficient registration process, and thorough nursing assessment. Post-operatively, nursing care is given to ensure the patient’s safe recovery, to meet individual care needs and to provide post-discharge care instructions. The RN in Outpatient Surgery assists with minimally invasive procedures. AORN standards are followed.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned. May be required to work varying hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• BSN preferred but not required

LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION:

• Current Kansas RN License or ability to obtain licensure, per Kansas State Board of Nursing regulations.
• BLS - Obtains RQI BLS certification within appropriate quarter (approximately within 3 months of hire), maintains quarterly RQI requirements.
• ALS- Obtains RQI ALS certification within appropriate quarter (approximately within 6 months of hire), maintains quarterly RQI requirements.
• PALS- Obtains RQI PALS certification within appropriate quarter (approximately within 6 months of hire), maintains quarterly RQI requirements.

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)- Course completion with current card preferred but not required.
• ASPAN (American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nursing)- Certification preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience as an RN preferred but not required.
• Computer experience preferred or ability to learn computer operation.
