About the role
The Wood Door Assembler is responsible for assembling and preparing wood door products for final production by cutting, fitting, and installing components in accordance with specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role ensures materials and components are properly prepared, supports workflow efficiency, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet production targets.
This is a new position being staffed with two (2) openings. Candidates must be available to work onsite five (5) days per week, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
What you'll do
- Maintain and monitor part and material inventories; notify lead/management of shortages
- Assemble wood door components including cores, veneers, edge banding, and block edge prep (S&R), veneers, top and bottom, glass, sanding
- Cut, shape, and fit wood materials using power tools and equipment
- Install vision kits, louvers as required, hinge prep attachments (drill and tap using jigs)
- Sand, prep, and finish surfaces to meet quality specifications
- Read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and work orders
- Inspect materials and completed work to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in cross-functional roles and departments for related projects.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings
- Experience working with wood products or in a carpentry/manufacturing environment (asset)
- Proficiency using hand and power tools (saws, drills, sanders, routers, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Basic understanding of measuring tools and techniques
- Experience following standard operating procedures and workplace health and safety guidelines.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify defects or non-conformities.
Work Conditions
- Working in a manufacturing environment daily
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment for long periods, including safety glasses and ear protection.
- Remain alert for extended periods, paying keen attention to detail
- Ability to lift 23 kilograms (50 lbs)
