Faculty.Instructor.Research - Full-Time in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at University of Pittsburgh

The Department of Medicine’s Renal-Electrolyte Division at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine seeks a full-time, Research Instructor-level faculty member with demonstrated interest and experience in epithelial transport physiology and molecular biology.

The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research focused on epithelial transport physiology, cell biology, and molecular biology. Responsibilities will include designing and performing laboratory experiments; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting research data; developing and optimizing experimental protocols; preparing manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and research reports; and contributing to the preparation and submission of grant applications. The Research Instructor will also be expected to maintain accurate research records, ensure compliance with applicable laboratory safety and research standards, and assist with the oversight and coordination of day-to-day laboratory activities.

The Research Instructor will work collaboratively with investigators within the Renal-Electrolyte Division and with faculty in other divisions and departments, including the Department of Immunology and the Department of Cell Biology. The individual will participate in multidisciplinary research projects, contribute scientific expertise to collaborative studies, and support the development of new research initiatives.

Additional responsibilities will include mentoring and providing laboratory instruction to trainees, students, and research staff; assisting with the supervision and professional development of laboratory personnel; participating in research meetings, seminars, and educational activities; and contributing to the teaching and service missions of the Division, Department, and University. The successful candidate will also be expected to pursue opportunities for internal and external research funding and contribute to the continued growth and productivity of the research program.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in the biological sciences or a closely related field and possess strong laboratory skills in cell and molecular biology. Candidates should demonstrate a record of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, as well as the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment. Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and mentoring skills are required.
