Description:Job Summary

Hiring Range: $41,683.20 - $52,918.32/Year. It is anticipated that the hiring rate offered will be +/- the midpoint range depending on qualifications.

This position, under the direct supervision of an assigned supervisor in the Maintenance Department, performs all cleaning services of offices, restrooms, break rooms, floors, glass, fixtures, furniture and appliances in office buildings, guard posts, dock houses, maintenance facilities, and operational facilities across various shifts as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsiblefor all cleaning servicesof offices,restrooms,break rooms, floors,glass, fixtures,furnitureandappliancesforallofficebuildings,guardposts,dockhouses, maintenance facilities and operationalfacilities
• Vacuumsandshampoos carpeted floors;mops andpolishes tile, vinylandother hardwoodfloors
• Cleans sinks,commodes,urinals,andother fixturesinrestrooms
• Cleansandpolishes glassandmirrors; cleanswindowsindoorsandoutdoors
• Empties trashcansintodumpster,andemptiesrecycle receptacles intospecialcontainers
• Empties large trash cans at docks and other outdoor facilities
• Ensures restroomsand break rooms are adequatelystockeddailyandrestockssupplies suchas paper towels, soapandtoilet paper whenneeded
• Cleanstables, counter-tops,dishes, sinks,microwaveovens, stoves,refrigeratorandother appliances in breakrooms
• Assistswithclean-upoffacilitiesafterspecial,extremeand/orcatastrophicevents
• Performs other dutiesasassigned
• Under specialcircumstances,assists maintenance staffwithessential functionssuchas boardingup and tying downfacilities/structuresin preparationof stormsandother potentialdisasters
• Provides assistanceto other employees to achieve maximumdepartmentalefficiency
• Adheresto Port policy and workstowardsa safe workenvironment
• Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations
• Drivesvehicleas necessary tocompleteassignedduties
• CPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
• Tier 2 status designation

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should have good communication skills and have initiative, as well as being able to follow directions. They must possess considerable judgment to safety and efficiently operate and maintain equipment. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
• Valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE

• Minimum 6 months of cleaning or janitorial experience or acceptable equivalent experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff and clients
• Use of motor vehicles, mechanical and electrical equipment

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined, climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
• Ability to work in a general office environment, moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts are present. When visiting work sites, ability to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hat, steel toed footwear, eye and hearing protection when performing work functions
• Ability to operate light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
