The Dietary Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the nutritional care and dietary management of patients within healthcare facilities across the United States. This position involves assisting registered dietitians in the development and implementation of individualized nutrition plans to promote patient health and recovery. The Dietary Technician ensures that dietary services comply with established standards, regulations, and patient-specific requirements, contributing to overall patient satisfaction and well-being. By accurately preparing and distributing meals, monitoring food safety, and maintaining detailed records, the technician helps optimize nutritional outcomes. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of nutrition principles and therapeutic diets.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Dietary Technician, Registered (DTR) or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Experience working in a clinical or healthcare dietary environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards such as ServSafe.
  • Additional coursework or training in medical nutrition therapy or patient education.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of therapeutic diets according to prescribed nutrition plans.
  • Collaborate with dietitians and healthcare staff to monitor patient dietary needs and preferences.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of dietary intake, meal counts, and patient feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards in all dietary operations.
  • Support inventory management by tracking food supplies and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
  • Educate patients and staff on basic nutrition principles and dietary guidelines as directed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to dietary services and patient care.
