Position Summary
The Commercial Driver is responsible for safely operating a company vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 10,001 pounds but under 26,000 pounds in compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and company policies. The driver ensures timely, professional delivery of goods and services while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
When not driving, this position requires assembly work in a small warehouse setting. Forklift experience and mechanical aptitude is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company-assigned commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) weighing 10,001 lbs to 26,000 lbs GVWR.Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required under 49 CFR Part 396.13 and 396.11.Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation in accordance with company policy and FMCSR Part 395 (Hours of Service).Ensure all freight is properly loaded, secured, and unloaded safely.Comply with all DOT and company safety regulations, including but not limited to vehicle operation, accident reporting, and roadside inspections.Report any vehicle defects, unsafe conditions, or incidents to management immediately.Maintain a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate per 49 CFR Part 391.41.Adhere to company appearance and conduct standards when representing the organization on the road and at customer sites.Complete assigned routes and deliveries on schedule while maintaining courteous communication with dispatch and customers.Participate in required safety meetings and compliance training.Forklift experience.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.Possess a valid state driver’s license (Non-CDL).Must meet all driver qualification requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.Maintain a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT medical card).At least 1–2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations within the past 3 years.Ability to pass a DOT drug and alcohol screening per 49 CFR Part 382.Strong knowledge of FMCSA safety regulations and defensive driving practices.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as needed.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing in/out of vehicles.Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
- Exposure to various weather conditions while driving and performing job duties.Regular travel between company locations and customer sites.Schedule flexibility; may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.
