Managing Principal, AI-Driven Commercial Effectiveness

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Managing Principal, AI-Driven Commercial Effectiveness based in Canada.

This is a senior leadership opportunity at the intersection of life sciences, commercial strategy, consulting, and artificial intelligence.
You will help transform how pharmaceutical organizations approach commercial effectiveness, moving from static analytics toward real-time, AI-powered decision-making.
As a trusted strategic advisor, you will work directly with C-suite leaders to connect commercial challenges with measurable business outcomes.
You will lead a specialist, cross-functional team and shape a consultative go-to-market model designed to deliver both strategic value and rapid execution.
The role combines executive advisory, solution design, account growth, and hands-on commercial leadership in a high-autonomy environment.
You will also influence product and engineering priorities by bringing market intelligence and customer transformation needs into the technology roadmap.
This is an opportunity to help define a new category of AI-enabled commercial transformation while directly influencing revenue growth, productivity, and customer impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior pharmaceutical executives, including CCOs, CMOs, and CIOs, shifting conversations from product capabilities toward measurable P&L and business impact.
  • Lead account-level strategy across complex pharmaceutical organizations, aligning stakeholders, business priorities, investment decisions, and transformation objectives.
  • Translate complex commercial challenges into compelling business cases tied to revenue growth, productivity, competitive advantage, and faster time-to-value.
  • Design solutions that address specific commercial effectiveness challenges and position AI-powered technology as the engine for broader business transformation.
  • Lead a specialist, cross-functional GTM pod, establishing the strategic authority and advisory depth expected from top-tier consulting environments while maintaining the speed and agility of an AI-native organization.
  • Own segment strategy, strategic wins, revenue growth, and success metrics, remaining involved after the sale to ensure solutions deliver measurable customer outcomes.
  • Develop and refine the future go-to-market model, effectively operating the assigned market segment as a mini-business unit and identifying opportunities for expansion.
  • Identify growth triggers and build the business case for transitioning shared resources into dedicated pod structures as the segment scales.
  • Bring customer insights, market intelligence, and transformation requirements back to Product and Engineering teams to influence product priorities, solution design, and future capabilities.
  • Help establish scalable commercial frameworks and standards that support the organization's evolution from a technology vendor toward a long-term transformation partner.
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical commercial consulting, commercial strategy, analytics-driven transformation, or closely related fields.
  • Experience operating at Principal, Partner, Managing Director, or comparable senior leadership level within a top-tier consulting firm or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated success winning and expanding strategic accounts while maintaining ownership of measurable client outcomes.
  • Strong track record advising senior pharmaceutical and commercial executives, leading high-stakes strategic conversations, and influencing multi-million-dollar commercial investment decisions.
  • Deep understanding of the life sciences commercial ecosystem, including Strategy, Insights & Planning (SIP), Sales Force Effectiveness (SFE), patient longitudinal and claims data, and the connection between strategy and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of modern commercial models, omnichannel engagement, Next Best Action (NBA) orchestration, and the integration of AI into CRM environments such as Veeva or Salesforce.
  • Exceptional ability to use data-driven storytelling to communicate complex ideas, build executive confidence, and connect technology investments to business outcomes.
  • Comfortable operating as a player-coach who can provide strategic leadership while remaining directly involved in client engagements and commercial execution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a lean, high-autonomy environment where priorities evolve quickly and decisions need to be made with imperfect information.
  • A strong bias toward action, experimentation, and practical solutions, with the ability to balance strategic thinking with rapid execution.
  • Ability to move fluidly between high-level strategic thinking and detailed execution, including presentations, client materials, solution refinement, and commercial planning.
  • Confidence bringing clarity to ambiguity and an iterative mindset for building, testing, formalizing, and scaling new commercial frameworks.
  • Strong executive presence, communication, influencing, relationship-building, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Benefits:
  • Anticipated base salary of $175,000–$275,000, with final compensation determined based on experience, specialized expertise, certifications, skills, and other relevant factors.
  • Eligibility for meaningful stock option grants.
  • Health and dental benefits with immediate enrollment.
  • Flexible time off policies.
  • Remote-first working environment with work-from-home flexibility.
  • Intentional, high-value opportunities for in-person collaboration and team socials.
  • An AI-native environment focused on using AI and agentic automation to increase efficiency, impact, and innovation.
  • A values-driven culture centered on innovation, ownership, and collaboration.
  • Opportunity to shape a newly created leadership position and directly influence the evolution of an AI-driven commercial transformation model.
  • Employees are located across Canada and the U.S., with a primary office hub in downtown Toronto for those who benefit from in-person collaboration.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process for candidates who require them.
