Mill Employee – Lone Star, TX
**Location: Lone Star, TX
**Position Type:: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
**Department:: Texas Tubular Operations
Position Summary
Friedman Industries is seeking motivated and dependable Mill Employees to join our Texas Tubular operations team in Lone Star, Texas. This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality plant operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and committed to operational excellence. This position involves supporting plant operations, operating equipment, performing preventative maintenance activities, troubleshooting machinery, and assisting with material handling and production processes.
Successful candidates will take pride in their work, demonstrate strong teamwork skills, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support safety, productivity, and quality throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Equipment Support
* Operate safely within all company policies, procedures, and governmental regulations
* Support daily plant operations and production activities
* Assist with loading trucks and safely operating material handling equipment
* Inspect machinery and workstations for operational and safety improvements
* Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment and components
Mechanical & Maintenance Responsibilities
* Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
* Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Assist with installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment in a pipe manufacturing environment
* Ensure all safety devices and operational mechanisms are functioning properly
Inventory & Quality Support
* Properly identify materials and follow inventory management procedures
* Maintain accurate paperwork and production documentation
* Communicate quality, safety, and service concerns to supervisors
* Support continuous improvement and cost-control initiatives
General Plant Responsibilities
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment
* Perform warehouse and housekeeping duties as assigned
* Work collaboratively with supervisors and plant team members to achieve operational goals
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends
* Ability to work in a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
* Positive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively
* Ability to execute detailed processes and procedures consistently
* Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly
* Ability to stand and work throughout the duration of shifts
* Basic math skills
* Reliable transportation
* Working knowledge, certification, or experience related to industrial maintenance or mechanical systems
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in steel manufacturing, pipe manufacturing, or similar industrial operations
* Post-secondary education or technical training
* 480V electrical experience
* Experience operating industrial equipment
