Job Description
Primary Function
The Operations Lead will oversee operational processes to ensure the safety, accuracy and efficiency of the employees and the customers’ product. Additionally, this position is responsible for overseeing a team of Dock/Warehouse workers, ensuring the team is accurately processing freight while performing his/her normal obligations. Teams vary in size from 5 to 10 team members according to operational needs. This position always serves as the supervisor’s eyes on the floor, ensuring that the workspace is clean, orderly, and safe. They report any equipment malfunctions.
The Operations Lead must have strong people skills, be able to manage a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks, be proficient with computers and the use of Microsoft Office software; bilingual is a plus.
Job Functions
Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Oversee efficiency of operational processes.
Participate in strategic planning and goal setting for the site.
Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of staff.
Research methods to improve operations, gain efficiency, and reduce costs.
Monitor, verify, complete, and report site performance documentation using company’s preferred method to communicate.
Schedule distribution of work to optimize productivity.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Will need to take the appropriate action(s) regarding unforeseeable issues and assure that they are properly documented and communicated to management.
Stage loading and unloading areas with appropriate equipment, materials, and space.
Safely climb in and out of trailers.
Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on a concrete floor in a non-climate-controlled atmosphere that may be slippery at times.
Adhere to and enforce company safety policies.
Process paperwork daily into database, complete KPI’s daily, process payroll
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Will be bilingual and at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Prior experience loading and unloading trailers/containers preferred.
Prior forklift / clamp truck experience (putaway & picking).
Prior RF/ WMS experience a plus.
Highly motivated individual with attention to detail.
Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location.
Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weighs up to 25 - 50 lbs frequently (utilize team lift for product over 50 lbs).
Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.
Required to wear protective clothing and Personal Protective Equipment.
Working Conditions
Dock environment; non-climate controlled, exhaust, fumes, dust, loud noise, heavy moving equipment.
