Schedule: Monday - Friday / 7:30AM - 4:00PM
Pay: $21.25/hr - $21.50/hr

The Equipment Technician provides a service to the contracted Department by handling monitoring equipment installations, orientations, removals and troubleshooting. Duties will also include participant data entry into user interface and communication with agency personnel regarding alerts and installations. In addition, this position requires the cleaning, testing, orders, returns, retrieval and overall management of equipment and supply inventory.
Job Expectations + Essential Functions
· Installs and removes various electronic monitoring equipment as requested using directed safety precautions.
· Reports to Courts and jails in San Diego County to install monitoring equipment on participants being placed on electronic monitoring.
· Reviews information provided by San Diego County to determine and verify participant’s identity and monitoring requirements prior to installation.
· Inputs data into database in preparation for monitoring equipment installation.
· Responsible for participant’s program orientation. Effectively communicates the program rules, regulations and contract requirements of their sentence. Explains and advise participants on the proper care/use of electronic monitoring device issued.
· Keeps constant communication San Diego Probation and Sheriff staff, email and telephone, to ensure that all requests for installation of monitoring equipment are being conducted within contract requirements.
· Reviews and interprets daily participant exception reports, investigating participant activity that is not in compliance to communicate findings to agency staff.
· Cleans, tests, and tracks the location of electronic monitoring devices under office inventory, ensuring that adequate supplies are available at the start of each day.
· Conducts shipping and receiving functions for equipment and supplies per established procedures. Places orders for equipment needed. Prepares equipment being returned for service and schedules equipment pick up with FedEx.
· Administers required drug testing.
· Provides support for service and maintenance of equipment in the field and at the Sentinel office.
· Keeps accurate records of service calls to install, troubleshoot or visually inspect electronic monitoring equipment being used by participant.
· Reports to participant's residence, jails, Courts and Agency offices to recover unreturned equipment.
· Places telephone calls to participants and agency staff when needed for equipment collection purposes.
· Updates database to accurately record the outcome of jail installs and equipment recovery attempts.
· Maintains a record of mileage for personal vehicle. Keep an accurate log of the results of all service calls, installs, and pickups to provide updates/results to the Branch supervisor.
· Serves as a liaison between Sentinel and/or other contracted agencies, as needed.
Requirements:
· Must successfully pass criminal background investigation and drug screening
· Must hold a valid Driver License and automobile insurance
· This position may require local travel on a daily basis to install, troubleshoot, replace or pickup equipment in the field. Must have reliable vehicle, employee will be reimbursed for mileage
Education
· High school or equivalent (Required). Some education background in criminal justice related field preferred.
Other Requirements:
