This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Web Content Remediation Specialist based in the United States.
This role focuses on improving the accessibility and compliance of public-facing digital content by identifying and correcting issues within web pages and CMS environments.
You will work hands-on to remediate HTML structures, fix accessibility defects, and ensure digital content meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
The position plays a key role in making web experiences more inclusive and usable for all users, including those relying on assistive technologies.
You will collaborate closely with accessibility testers and project leads to implement validated fixes based on audit findings.
The work involves a mix of technical HTML/CSS updates, CMS-based remediation, and quality-focused validation activities.
You will contribute to structured reporting and documentation of remediation efforts while following established accessibility guidelines.
This is a remote, project-based consulting role supporting long-term accessibility improvement initiatives.
- Perform hands-on remediation of web content to resolve accessibility issues identified through automated and manual testing processes.
- Update and correct HTML structure, including headings, lists, tables, landmarks, and semantic markup to ensure proper accessibility hierarchy.
- Apply and validate alternative text, ARIA labels, form instructions, and other non-text content requirements.
- Fix keyboard navigation issues, focus order problems, and accessibility barriers in interactive elements such as links, buttons, and forms.
- Address visual accessibility concerns including color contrast, text scaling, and overall readability.
- Implement remediation changes within CMS platforms and web-based content systems.
- Collaborate with accessibility testers to support validation cycles and confirm issue resolution.
- Document remediation actions and support reporting, ensuring traceability and compliance with accessibility standards.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in web accessibility remediation or related front-end development work.
- Strong hands-on experience applying WCAG 2.1 or WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards.
- Working knowledge of ADA compliance and Section 508 requirements.
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and accessibility semantics including headings, labels, and ARIA usage.
- Experience remediating accessibility issues within CMS environments.
- Familiarity with common accessibility challenges such as missing alt text, improper heading structure, keyboard navigation issues, color contrast problems, and form labeling errors.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with QA teams, testers, and technical stakeholders to implement remediation based on documented findings.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment.
- Nice to have: experience with government or public-sector websites and assistive technology testing.
- Competitive hourly rate: $40–$70/hr (1099 or Corp-to-Corp), based on experience and contract requirements.
