VP of Financial Products & Marketplace

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP of Financial Products & Marketplace based in the United States.

This is a high-impact executive leadership role responsible for defining and scaling a financial products and marketplace ecosystem within a fast-growing digital platform. The role blends strategic vision with hands-on execution across product, partnerships, and commercial operations. You will own the end-to-end marketplace strategy, shaping how financial products are curated, distributed, and monetized across a two-sided ecosystem. This position requires strong financial acumen, marketplace experience, and the ability to operate at both boardroom and operational levels. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams to build scalable infrastructure and drive sustainable revenue growth. The environment is fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and highly cross-functional, with significant visibility at the executive level. Your work will directly influence platform monetization, partner success, and customer experience.

Accountabilities:

This role is responsible for setting the strategic direction and commercial success of a financial products marketplace while ensuring scalable execution across partners, product, and operations.

  • Define and lead the long-term vision and strategy for the financial products marketplace, ensuring alignment with overall platform growth and monetization goals
  • Own marketplace performance including revenue, margin, unit economics, and long-term profitability targets
  • Build, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships with financial product providers, vendors, and ecosystem stakeholders
  • Design and optimize marketplace structure including curation, assortment strategy, pricing models, and monetization frameworks
  • Drive cross-functional execution with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Operations to ensure seamless marketplace delivery and scalability
  • Establish scalable operational systems for onboarding, integration, reporting, and partner lifecycle management
  • Lead go-to-market strategies for new financial products and marketplace offerings
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for marketplace initiatives, influencing company-wide prioritization and investment decisions
  • Build and lead a high-performing team responsible for marketplace growth, partnerships, and operations
Requirements

This role requires deep marketplace leadership experience combined with strong financial and commercial expertise, ideally within platform or fintech-driven environments.

  • 8–12+ years of experience in marketplaces, platform businesses, fintech, or two-sided ecosystems, with significant leadership responsibility
  • Proven track record of owning P&L, revenue performance, or marketplace financial outcomes at scale
  • Strong experience in partnership development, vendor management, and complex commercial negotiations
  • Deep understanding of marketplace economics, monetization models, and unit economics optimization
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, balancing vision with execution detail
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders without formal authority
  • Experience working in financial services, fintech, or adjacent digital product ecosystems is highly preferred
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence, with experience presenting to leadership teams and external partners
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced experience preferred
