App Family Medicine is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our healthcare providers and delivering high-quality patient care in a primary care setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our patients. Key Responsibilities:
The Lab Coordinator PRN will support the lab functions with a primary focus on phlebotomy, ensuring accurate and timely collection of blood samples and other specimens. This position requires flexibility and availability on an as-needed basis to support the clinic's needs.Key Responsibilities:
Phlebotomy:
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of all specimens.
- Maintain accurate records of collected specimens and ensure timely delivery to the lab for analysis.
Patient Interaction:
- Greet patients and verify their identity and lab orders.
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding the collection of samples.
- Address patient inquiries and concerns related to lab tests and procedures with professionalism and compassion.
Specimen Handling and Processing:
- Prepare specimens for transport to external laboratories when necessary.
- Follow proper procedures for the storage and disposal of specimens.
- Ensure compliance with all protocols for specimen integrity and chain of custody.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation requirements.
Equipment and Supplies Management:
- Maintain phlebotomy equipment and ensure it is in proper working order.
- Monitor inventory levels of phlebotomy supplies and place orders as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and disposal of biohazard materials.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication of lab needs.
- Participate in team meetings and provide updates on lab-related activities as required.
- Provide support to other staff members regarding phlebotomy procedures and best practices.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Education- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience in healthcare or clinic setting is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.
- phlebotomy or MA certifcation required at time of hire.P
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying medical equipment and supplies, occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Manual dexterity for performing medical procedures and operating equipment.
- Clear and effective communication with patients and team members.
- Indoor clinical environment with a well-maintained and clean facility.
- Exposure to various medical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and support staff in a professional and collaborative setting.
- Adherence to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Compliance with established work schedules, which may include evenings and weekends
