Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in counseling, psychology or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Excellent organizational, communications, group presentation and computer skills required. Ability to coordinate multiple assignments with competing priorities. Ability to effectively manage and multi-task during a crisis. Ability to work with diverse population of medical students.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional counseling experience and LPC/NCC designation eligibility are preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Counseling and Wellness Center is seeking to hire an Associate Counselor. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
  • Provides individual and group counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation.
  • Serves as a liaison to faculty, staff and campus partners.
  • Makes presentations on topics relevant to academic success, personal development and psychological health of college students.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for handling of psychiatric emergencies on campus.
  • Represents the department on various committees.
  • Assists with planning and participation in special events to include campus fairs.
  • Contributes to on-going departmental assessment activities.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
