About This Position

IS Interface and Integration Analyst III (Epic)

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The IS Interface and Integration Analyst III is responsible for designing, supporting, and maintaining system integrations that enable secure, reliable data exchange across clinical, financial, and operational platforms. This role exists to ensure critical healthcare information flows accurately and continuously between electronic medical record systems and connected applications, devices, and third-party services. The position is responsible for interface reliability, data integrity, troubleshooting, and participation in system upgrades and modernization efforts in a healthcare environment operating constantly. The role requires close collaboration with technical teams, vendors, clinical stakeholders, and leadership to support patient care and operational efficiency. Reports to departmental leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Leads the design and build of system interfaces and integrations using interface engines and middleware platforms, including Cloverleaf and comparable technologies, to enable reliable data exchange across clinical, financial, and third-party systems, while also providing technical support and troubleshooting.
    • Leads project level work efforts, appropriately coordinating the implementation of interface solutions and functionality.
    • Demonstrates subject matter expertise within areas system integrations and interfaces, technical workflows, and data exchange processes.
    • Leads and mentors Interface and Integration team in area of expertise.
    • Develops, configures, and maintains electronic medical record interfaces, including Epic Bridges interfaces, ensuring successful inbound and outbound data flows between Epic and ancillary systems.
    • Leads integrations involving Epic-adjacent and interoperability platforms such as Connexall and CareAware, overseeing clinical device connectivity, patient engagement, real-time data exchange, and workflow automation.
    • Implements and supports healthcare interoperability standards, including Health Level Seven version 2 (HL7 v2) messaging and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR)–based application programming interfaces (APIs).
    • Leads monitoring of interface performance, message flow, error queues, and acknowledgements across Epic, middleware, and interface platforms to ensure data integrity, high availability, and timely issue resolution.
    • Collaborates with application teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and clinical stakeholders to define interface requirements, data mappings, testing plans, and integration workflows, and maintains accurate interface documentation and operational procedures.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Required Licenses and/or Certifications
      • Epic Certification training should be attended at the first available class, and certification/accreditation in the applicable module(s) must be current or obtained within 30 calendar days of completing training.
    • Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications
      • Epic Bridges certification or formal Epic integration training highly preferred.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Required Education and Experience
      • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Information Systems, or a related field required, or relevant combination of education and experience.
      • 5-7 years experience required with system integration and data exchange operations.
    • Preferred Education and Experience
      • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
      • Experience integrating Epic with patient engagement platforms, clinical devices, monitoring systems, or third-party vendor solutions preferred.
      • Experience working in a hospital or large health system environment preferred.
    • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • Expert understanding of system integrations, interfaces, and healthcare data exchange concepts.
      • Ability to follow established procedures and learn complex technical workflows in a regulated healthcare environment.
      • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and change tracking practices.
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with technical teams and stakeholders.
      • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and escalate issues appropriately.
    • Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • Familiarity with RESTful application programming interfaces (APIs), JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), Extensible Markup Language (XML), and modern integration patterns preferred.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
