About This Position
Job Summary:
Attalon is seeking an embedded electronics engineer to contribute to the development of advanced laser systems for defense applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career electrical/software engineer who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast paced and dynamic environment. You will help shape the development of next generation high power fiber lasers and amplifiers that incorporate emerging optical technologies and their supporting electronic systems, and you’ll provide hands-on support for deployed laser systems.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Contribute to both hardware and software development of electronic systems containing embedded microcontrollers and FPGAs, including schematic capture and PCB layout, and firmware development and debugging Support prototyping and bring up of printed circuit boards, cable harnesses, and embedded hardware assembliesParticipate in testing and validation of new and existing electronics and softwareCreate documentation including test plans/test reports, design notes, manufacturing instructions, interface control documents, and operating instructionsCollaborate cross functionally to resolve issues during development, integration, transition to manufacturing, and field operationTravel (<5%) for hands-on field support, conferences, etc. as requiredMinimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 0-2 years experienceExperience with PCB design, schematic capture, and layoutHands on experience with prototyping, debugging, and testing embedded electronicsExperience with embedded programming in CPreferred Qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 2-5 years experienceFamiliarity with real time operating systems is a plusExperience with Verilog or VHDL preferred; experience with Xilinx and Intel platforms is a plusExperience with C# (.NET) and LabView is a plus Experience with Altium Designer preferredExperience with Microchip products preferredEqual Opportunity Employer Statement
