About This Position
The Laborer plays a vital role in supporting environmental remediation and restoration projects. This position performs hands-on field work and physical labor to maintain clean, safe, and compliant job sites. The Laborer assists in site preparation, debris removal, excavation support, and other field activities, directly supporting the Heavy Equipment Operator and Foreman with on-site operations.
This position requires strong attention to safety, environmental awareness, and teamwork. The Laborer contributes to the success of each project by ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and compliance with all environmental and company standards.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform manual labor in support of environmental cleanup, construction, and remediation projects.
Assist equipment operators by hand-digging, spotting, and preparing areas inaccessible to heavy machinery.
Operate hand and power tools safely to perform site maintenance, debris removal, and general labor tasks.
Remove and properly dispose of trash, debris, and contaminated materials to maintain a safe work environment.
Assist in setup and breakdown of work areas, including barriers, containment systems, and erosion controls.
Support environmental protection efforts by maintaining silt fencing, berms, and stormwater controls.
Perform snow and ice removal during winter months to ensure site accessibility and safety.
Load and unload equipment and materials as needed.
Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE at all times.
Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard analyses.
Maintain tools, vehicles, and work areas in clean, safe condition.
Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, shoveling, bending, and carrying materials (up to 50 lbs).
Basic understanding of environmental cleanup, construction, or related field work.
Skilled in the safe operation of hand tools and small power equipment.
Awareness of general health, safety, and environmental protection practices.
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail in maintaining site safety and cleanliness.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor outdoors in all weather conditions.
Valid Driver’s License with clean 5-year MVR.
Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Previous experience in environmental remediation, construction, or related labor work.
Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and safe handling of contaminated materials.
Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and PPE requirements.
Work performed primarily outdoors at active environmental remediation sites.
Exposure to weather, noise, dust, vibration, and possible hazardous materials.
Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and manual labor.
Must be able to wear required PPE including respirators, Tyvek suits, gloves, and safety boots.
All work must be performed in compliance with company Health & Safety standards, OSHA regulations, and environmental policies. The Laborer is responsible for maintaining safe work practices, participating in daily safety meetings, and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to supervision.
